1. Introduction

Many leading companies use innovative management approach based on Theory of Constraints (TOC), which is introduced by Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt and is famous in providing a set of holistic processes and rules, based on a system approach that brings quick and significant improvements in performance of companies and organizations. This innovative management approach has been taught in over 200 colleges, universities and business schools. Goldratt’s introductory book, The Goal, has been sold over 5 million copies and have been translated into 24 languages.

Compared with other traditional management methods, TOC is more than a set of tools or techniques, and is more fundamentally a paradigm shift which demands that we think about our problems, goals and objectives, policies, procedures and measures in a different way.

For example, the TOC is a new production approach which is able to reduce the production cycle time by half, and TOC’s new project management approach allows completion of project 25% faster, without scarifying scope and budget. Many companies are able to use this approach to increase the throughput executed with the same resources.

With proven successes in manufacturing, distribution, financial services, healthcare, defense, government and education industries, TOC has been used by thousands of corporations, and the types of organizations varied from giant multi-national corporations and industry leaders like Boeing and General Motors, Walgreen, Ford, Whirpool, Mazda, Hitachi, Lucent Technologies, Marris, Intel, to military organizations like the U.S. Air Force to small town bakeries.
