Eligibility Requirements for Registered Lean Sigma Black Belt (RLSBB) Professionals
To be eligible for the Registered Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (RLSBB) Professionals, applicants should complete and pass the Six Sigma Black Belt Programme conducted bySSI (or equivalent training program), and submit an individual real project or simulated project and pass a VIVA exam.
“Those who have completed equivalent Lean Sigma Blacl Belt training from other institutions and wish to obtain SSI’s professional certification or enrol in higher-level SSI courses must first apply for an exemption and pass the eligibility assessment conducted by the SSI Examination and Registration Board.”
Format of VIVA exam:
- An examination fee will apply to the VIVA examination
- The exam includes 30 minutes’ presentation and 30 minutes’ Q & A session
- Candidates should provide below documents at least 5 working days before VIVA exam:
1> Presentation file (in PowerPoint format)
2> All supporting data files (usually in SigmaXL format)
3> Full Project Report (in Word format), should be submitted within one week after the VIVA exam
Project Requirement:
Real project
- Project duration is around 6-9 months
- The real data should be approved by an Accountant or Department Manager
- Advanced Six Sigma tools should be used
- Minimum saving is not less than HK$500,000 per year
Simulated project
- Attend Black Belt Simulation Project Course conducted by SSI (30 hours) and complete an individual project
· SSI will offer project coaching if required and a coaching fee will apply.
Remarks: To broaden professional recognition and align our professional titles with international common practice, the title of ‘Registered Quality Professional (Lean Black Belt), RQP(LBB)’ has been changed as ‘Registered Lean Sigma Black Belt, RLSBB’ from 15 April 2013
Registration Fee
Annual Type: HK$1,200 per year
3-Year Type: HK$3,600
NOTE A re-registration assessment is required when:
• The Professional Registration has expired for over 12 months, or
• A New Registration Application is submitted more than 12 months after the course completion
unless an extension is approved by the Examination and Registration Board.
Maintain Registration Status
To uphold the standards of the Registered Professionals, all Registered Professionals are required to complete 30 CPD credits (equivalent to 30 credit hours) in every three years. CPD credits can be in a form of the following experiences:
- Leading Six Sigma / Lean / continuous improvement / quality improvement projects
- Conducting Six Sigma / Lean training / continuous improvement / quality improvement programmes
- Attending Six Sigma / Lean / continuous improvement / quality improvement or related training courses, seminars or study missions
- Joining our seminars or programmes under the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Scheme, or similar events organized by other renowned professional organizations such as Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Project Management Institute Hong Kong Chapter (PMIHK), etc.,
