Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility Requirements for Registered Lean Specialist (RLS) Professionals

To be eligible for the Registered Lean Specialist (RLS) Professionals, applicants should complete and pass the Lean Specialist Certification Programme conducted by SSI (or equivalent training program), and submit an individual Lean project report and pass a VIVA exam.  

“Those who have completed equivalent Lean Specialist training from other institutions and wish to obtain SSI’s professional certification or enrol in higher-level SSI courses must first apply for an exemption and pass the eligibility assessment conducted by the SSI Examination and Registration Board.”

備註: To broaden professional recognition and align our professional titles with international common practice, the title of ‘Registered Quality Professional (Lean Specialist), RQP(LS)’ has been changed as ‘Registered Lean Specialist, RLS’ from 15 April 2013.

Format of VIVA exam:

  • An examination fee will apply to the VIVA examination
  • The exam includes 30 minutes’ presentation and 30 minutes’ Q & A session
  • Candidates should provide below documents at least 5 working days before VIVA exam:
    1> Presentation file (in PowerPoint format)
    2> All supporting data files (usually in SigmaXL format)
    3> Full Project Report (in Word format), should be submitted within one week after the VIVA exam

Lean project assessment requirement:

  • The individual projects should be able to make use of the practical knowledge in the 6 modules of Certified Lean Specialist Programme. The cases in the modules of Lean Leader for Manufacturing Certification Programme/Certificate in Lean Transformation can be used as reference.
  • Applicants are required to show their analysis, process problem solving techniques, sustainable result in their Lean project.
  • Able to lead the Lean improvement team, process change management, lead and conduct lean activies.
  • The benefit of the Lean project should increase operation efficiency at least 20% or reduce operation cost/resourcesof at least HK$500,000 annually, besides of hard saving, other soft-side impact, 如: brand enhancement, customer satisfaction, culture change…etc may also be considered with significant relation with the submitted Lean project.

The Lean projects may include one of the following value stream:

  • Inventory control
  • Supply chain & distribution
  • Production & operation
  • Administration functions
  • Product development
  • Project management
  • Logistic and delivery
  • Layout design/re-design

登記費用

Annual Type: HK$1,200 per year

3-Year Type: HK$3,600

NOTE A re-registration assessment is required when:
•	The Professional Registration has expired for over 12 months, or
•	A New Registration Application is submitted more than 12 months after the course completion
    unless an extension is approved by the Examination and Registration Board.

維持註冊專業資格

To uphold the standards of the Registered Professionals, all Registered Professionals are required to complete 30 CPD credits (equivalent to 30 credit hours) in every three years. CPD credits can be in a form of the following experiences:

  1. Leading Six Sigma / 精益 / continuous improvement / quality improvement projects
  2. Conducting Six Sigma / Lean training / continuous improvement / quality improvement programmes
  3. Attending Six Sigma / 精益 / continuous improvement / quality improvement or related training courses, seminars or study missions
  4. 參加本會在 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Scheme, or similar events organized by other renowned professional organizations such as Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Project Management Institute Hong Kong Chapter (PMIHK), etc.,
